Marble Falls EDC Projects Update

There is a lot happening in Marble Falls these days, and the EDC is proud to be a part of several of these projects.

DOWNTOWN TAX INCREMENT REINVESTMENT ZONE

The EDC sponsored the creation of a preliminary financing plan for a Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone in Downtown Marble Falls.  The first three agenda items related to this project are on tonight’s City Council agenda, with the possible adoption of the ordinance set for the November 19th and December 3rd Council meetings.  If approved, this TIRZ could generate between $12 million and $18 million for Downtown projects–without raising the tax rate.

HIKE AND BIKE TRAIL

The hike and bike trail connecting Westside Park to Johnson Park is now complete.  This project was overseen by Robert Moss, Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Marble Falls, and funded by the EDC’s community leverage fund.

SAVE THE WORLD BREWING COMPANY

Equipment is being moved into the new microbrewery in the Business and Technology Park.  The building should be ready for occupancy by Thanksgiving, with the first beer ready by early next year.

DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES

Crews are working on the interior of the building that should be ready for move-in by the first part of 2014.  This building and the microbrewery mentioned above are being constructed on property that the EDC sold at a greatly-reduced price.

Aerial Video

If you were around town last Friday, you may have seen an unusual flying object hovering over some of Marble Falls’s many amenities.  The gentleman with the remote control underneath it was a videographer shooting footage for an aerial video that the EDC and Chamber are sponsoring.  We’ll have some updates in the coming weeks about the launch of that video and where you can find it.

Web Site Updates

Be watching for updated community profile information in the coming days.  Our partners at The Retail Coach and EDSuite are working on a few special pages on the web site that will be dedicated to the latest and greatest demographic and trade area information on Marble Falls.

Hurd Regional Medical Center

Last weekend, the folks at Scott & White hosted a very successful “Slabs and Cabs” party at the site of the new hospital.  The clinic has exceeded expectations in its first five months of operation, and visible progress is being made on the hospital; a webcam is capturing the activity.
