Meet Mariah Shirley, the new intern shared by the City of Marble Falls and the Marble Falls EDC.  Mariah is the daughter of Brian and Maggie Shirley, owners of 3cGeo, a GIS and consulting firm based in Marble Falls.  Brian is a past board member of the Marble Falls EDC.

Mariah graduated from Faith Academy in 2010, where she participated in track and basketball.  She was an active member of the Texas High School Rodeo, Region X.  In middle school and high school, Mariah was a member of the 4H.  She was on the shooting sports team and showed Boer goats.

After graduating from Faith Academy, Mariah attended    Central Texas College in Marble Falls for one year.  She then moved to Stephenville and attended Tarleton State University, where she majored in agricultural economics.  After graduation, she was employed by Ameriprise Financial.  Her boss at that time was a non-voting member of the Stephenville EDC.  Some of Mariah’s duties included contacting new members and setting up meetings for the EDC.

Ameriprise Financial offered Mariah a significant pay increase to relocate to Houston, but, after six months there, she realized that her quality of life was diminished.  She moved back to Marble Falls in May of this year.

A former Burnet County Rodeo Queen, Mariah also competed in Miss Rodeo Austin.  She is currently active with the Burnet County Rodeo Association and is still involved with competitive barrel racing.  She has won money, buckles, tack and even a saddle.

Mariah would love to live and work in Marble Falls and put down her roots here.  She said when she was younger, she couldn’t wait to leave, but now she is back, she never wants to leave!
