During a called Special Board Meeting Monday, June 22nd, the Marble Falls ISD Board of Trustees named local Spicewood area educator, Dr. Chris Allen, as the lone finalist to serve as Marble Falls ISD’s new Superintendent. Allen will transition to his new position in late July following the 21-day waiting period required by State Law. Following the waiting period, the Board can officially appoint him as Superintendent and execute his contract. Allen replaces Dr. Robert O’Connor, who accepted the Superintendency in Sharyland ISD.
Allen joins MFISD from neighboring Lake Travis ISD, where he has served as the District’s Deputy Superintendent since May of 2012. Prior to his work in Lake Travis, Allen was a Principal, Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services, and the Interim Superintendent for Midway ISD from 2008 - 2012. He has also worked as a Curriculum Coordinator for the University of Texas, and has a background of teaching and coaching in Birdville ISD.

“The caliber of our applicant pool was simply outstanding,” said MFISD Board President, Rick Edwards. “We narrowed a very capable field of 50 applicants to six finalists for the first round of interviews. We interviewed the finalists last Tuesday and Wednesday evening. Following the initial interviews, we invited Dr. Allen back for a second interview. During the interview process, Dr. Allen distinguished himself from the rest of the field when he talked to our Board members about achieving a vision of high standards and expectations that give each child the opportunity to achieve success. Chris is very energetic, with great people skills that make you excited about educating our kids. He plans to be very visible within the District, communities, and at the State level.”

Allen has been active in the Districts where he has served. He currently serves as a member of the TA Revisiting Texas’ Principal Evaluation and Support System Steering Committee. He has also worked with city boards, service clubs, church communities, as well as other committees at Baylor University.
Edwards indicated that Allen will be moving to Marble Falls with his wife, Natalie, and two children, Joshua (age 11) and Caleb (age 10). Allen brings to Marble Falls his experience working in large, high-profile Districts and possesses a personal understanding of the local Hill Country area. He also delivers a record of high achievement in high-growth Districts like Lake Travis and Midway ISD’s.

“My personal mission is to offer my leadership skills in a dynamic organization whose high expectations and values match my own,” said Allen. “I respect the high student and staff performance for which Marble Falls ISD is noted and offer my energy and enthusiasm to continue the excellence. As parents of school-aged children, my wife and I consider Marble Falls ISD an ideal community in which to live, work, and raise our children.” Dr. Chris Allen-Lone Finalist
